“This year’s ASTD show was very high energy. Everyone we spoke to was looking for solutions to their training logistics and facility needs right now,” says MicroTek CEO Don Slivensky.
“In past years, we met people who were on fact-finding missions, seeking out potential partners. This year, there was more of an immediate need for on-demand capabilities and buyer interest was higher than ever. Buyers were seriously focused on finding the right partner to handle the delivery of their training and logistics so that they could focus their energies on content development.”
MicroTek is the largest provider of high-tech, state-of-the-art computer classrooms and training logistics, and has expanded their reach internationally, now managing the delivery of computer-based training worldwide. “Since the beginning of the new millennium,” says Slivensky, “there is a greater need to deliver high-tech training globally to a much more diversified workforce. We’ve developed the capability to archive, deliver, and install software and computer-based training programs to an extensive network of classroom facilities all over the world. This gives our customers the ability not only to focus on the content of that training while we handle the logistics, but also the ability to train their entire worldwide workforce with ease. All our customers need to do is just show up and teach.”
“So many of our customers are forced to do more with less—less resources, less staff, and less time to do it all in. They truly appreciate having a reliable company like MicroTek to provide turnkey training facilities and logistics to alleviate some of that administrative function from their training departments,” says Slivenksy. “In the past year, we have really been challenged by some of our customers. We delivered 3,000 days of computer based training for 65,000 employees in six weeks last fall for one of our customers, and, onsite at the EXPO, one of the biggest consulting integrators in the world signed with us to deliver training to their own customers. Our reputation as one of the most reliable vendors in this space is helped by these tradeshow opportunities, where we get to meet our buyers face-to-face and really explain our value proposition.”
Last year, MicroTek received the Deloitte-Touche Technology Fast 500 Award and has been on Inc. magazine’s 500 Fastest Growing Companies list for three years in a row.
Founded in 1991, MicroTek opened its first computer-equipped training facility in San Francisco. MicroTek now manages 52 facilities in the United States alone, covering all major metropolitan areas. “Up until very recently, we were primarily positioned as a facilities provider. But last fall, we ran a Product Roadshow for one of our retail clients, utilizing our Tracker reservations and logistics system to its full potential.”
All of the MicroTek facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art computer equipment, full-time hospitality, and technical staffs and student amenities such as email and phone mail stations. “We know that our customers value their students, and we are dedicated to making their time in our facilities as productive as possible. Providing the right environment in which to learn is vital to delivering successful training.” These added elements and dedicated staff have resulted in consistent customer service ratings of 3.96 out of 4.0 in all MicroTek facilities.
