MicroTek Updates Computer Classroom Facilities with New Technology
Oakbrook Terrace, IL, August 17, 2004 – MicroTek, the leader in computer classroom outsourcing, continues to update its national network of training facilities with the latest technology. In a major order for Dell, MicroTek upgraded a significant portion of its computers with new Dell OptiPlex computers and flat screens. This investment brings the average age of computers in MicroTek classrooms to under a year, assuring educators the necessary technical resources for any level of computer training.
The recent surge in technology spending has caused MicroTek, as the primary classroom provider to the high tech industry, to invest heavily to meet customer demands. “We are constantly being driven by our customers to offer the latest level of technology” said CEO Don Slivensky. “It seems that each week we schedule a new course that requires faster processors, additional memory, or more bandwidth to the internet.”
Technology aside, the new monitors add to the comfort level MicroTek can provide its students. “We’ve been using flat panel monitors for years now and each time we upgrade from the CRTs, I’m more impressed by the space savings the LCDs provide,” said Vice President of Operations Charlie Brown. “We design each facility with the student in mind and our goal is to create comfortable learning environments. These new monitors go a long way in helping to make our classrooms more comfortable.”
The local communities of these MicroTek facilities also benefit as the company’s surplus of computers is being donated to local charities and schools. Oakland Technology Exchange West (http://www.otxwest.org/), Hope Again of Los Angeles, and three Illinois schools will each take advantage of the contribution.
This installment follows a long history of technology upgrades to maintain MicroTek’s leadership position in the computer classroom rental market. Recently, a Wi-Fi upgrade brought wireless internet access to each of MicroTek's facilities. Additional failsafe, broadband capacity has been added along with significantly improved firewall security.
